I remember the feeling of sheer joy when I received the news that I’d been successful in the recruitment process as a data protection lawyer t at a firm specialising in this field! Wow, those months of transition, immersing myself in GDPR and LGPD, attending face-to-face courses, meeting people, posting content on LinkedIn… it had all paid off! Now I could devote myself to the subject I was passionate about and, on top of that, get paid for it! Isn’t that the dream?

My journey into the Privacy world

In December 2019, the moment arrived when I received some incredible news: I’d passed a recruitment process and was set to begin the (bizarre, though we didn’t know it yet!) year of 2020 working in the field I’d been studying and planning to work in for months. Since then, working in privacy, I’ve had the opportunity to see how this dynamic worked in different scenarios:

The beginning: lawyer and consultant at a firm focused on digital protection and IT law

Why is it so interesting (and important!) to examine real-life cases from DPAs?

Joining the noyb country reporter team has been a very interesting experience for a number of reasons, and, for me, the most significant aspect is having to read the decision as it was originally published by the Italian authority, understand the key points, and translate what happened. Not just a ‘literal’ translation from Italian into English. But a translation following the noyb standard, which aims to make decisions “understandable” to a wider audience, and not just those who are already familiar with technical terms.
